Field Spaniel

Field Spaniel

In the late nineteenth century the Field Spaniel was derived from a mix of spaniels and the Basset. He can be black, liver or roan in colour. Most devotees of the Field Spaniel insist he is not suitable for city life and that he should only reside in the country. The following has even been written into the breed standard “Ideal for rough shooting or companion for the country dweller. Not suitable for city.”

His coat does need a little trimming to keep it tidy also regular brushing and combing to keep it free from tangles; the ears and feathering needing particular attention.
